About Us
7 Stars Bar & Grill started back in 2011. We wanted to own our own place and the one we found available had a kitchen and license requiring we run one. We had lots of BAR experience, but little bar and GRILL experience. Developing a menu and figuring out that whole kitchen piece was a challenge!

What 7 Stars became was nowhere on the horizon when we were starting off.

When thinking about a vision for our new spot, we knew what we DIDN’T want to be (a sports bar) and only had vague ideas of what we wanted to be, like a place a woman can walk in alone and not get harassed.

While thinking of all that, we were also thinking of a name. A lot of first thoughts were either already taken or we discovered had other connotations. Paul came up with 7 Stars.

So, what does 7 Stars mean? Star Wars religions? Species? Spaceships? No-it’s our family! We were married in 2004 in quite a spectacular for its time Star Wars wedding. Paul made Jedi robes for his groomsmen. Marya’s bridesmaids matched their dress colors to their partner’s lightsaber. It was like a Jedi prom! And Marya marched up the aisle to the sounds of the Imperial March! Marya had a son from her first marriage and Paul had two daughters from his first marriage. We went on to have two more together-including a Luke! So it’s us and our 5 kids who are THE 7 Stars!!
We took the name to a graphic designer for our logo. He gave us several options, and we eventually chose the one with the nod to Star Wars. We, but especially Paul, loved it!

Paul always preferred watching movies to sports, so he would always have Star Wars, Indiana Jones, etc., playing in the background at 7 Stars. He started hanging up little things to see if Marya would notice, the first of which was a rope repelling Luke, hanging above the bar. Customers noticed too and liked it. From there, we just kept adding to it! May 4, 2012, was our first Star Wars Celebration, and they got bigger and started taking up the whole weekend from there!

7 Stars continued to focus on fandom. We hosted watch parties for Game of Thrones, Mandolorian, and Picard to name a few. On top of weekly trivia, we did quarterly Star Wars trivia and specialty trivia nights like Buffy & Angel, Horror, Star Trek, and our most popular-Disney, just to name a few! We built a community! Complete strangers would walk in and start talking to others about their favorite character or fandom. Everyone made friends. It really did feel like family.

We created custom menus for customer events. The customer would meet with Marya to pick drink names and do a tasting to select their favorite cocktails. The menus, with a heading like "Happy Birthday _____", were printed out and waiting at their table.
We also declared ourselves a Safe Zone. Traditionally that has pertained to the LGBTQ+ community, but we meant it even more broadly than that. We wanted EVERYONE (regardless of color, race, religion, gender expression/identity, who you love-everyone) who came in to not only feel welcome, but to also feel SAFE!!

And 7 Stars was a success! Our customers told their friends, and they joined the family. Every year, sales grew! We were even considering opening a 2nd location.

And then Covid.

When things settled down we started looking for a new location. We never thought it would take over 2 1/2 years to find a new spot, but it was worth it! We finally have a new home, and this is THE PERFECT SPOT FOR US!
